Orienteering is taking a summer break until the Tara Sprint in Co Meath on Sun Aug 13 (11-1.0).

You could take it easy on the August Bank Holiday weekend - or you could have yourself an adventure at the the Beast of Ballyhoura or the Blackrock Challenge in the Ballyhoura Mountains in north Cork and east Limerick.

Want to try orienteering? A special beginner's orienteering event will be held as part of the Athletics Ireland Family Fitness Festival in Farmleigh, just off the Phoenix Park on Sunday July 27 (opens 10.30am).

A couple of races 3ROCkers may be interested in, since they are off road and take place in familiar terrain. While we're at it - training takes place every Tuesday in Befield (until clocks go back); meet 6.30 car park beside the track. All welcome!

The next 3ROC event is on Saturday, 6th October in the Phoenix Park with starts from 11.00am to 1.00pm. Start location is the Papal Cross car park.

This Local Event in the Phoenix Park on the 4th February will be run by 3ROC. Eoin Dunne welcomes all offers of assistance in organising this event.

As this event is being held within the City Boundary in the Phoenix Park, it is a perfect opportunity for you to bring along your friends and introduce them to Orienteering.

The Fifth event in the 2007 Dublin by Night series will be run by 3ROC in the Phoenix Park on Saturday 3rd February.

The first event of the Leinster Autumn Series will be in Mullaghmeen on 1st October.

The Dublin by Night series continues with this event so bring your torch. The normal start area is the Garda Athletic clubhouse but this is to be confirmed. Participants must be over 16 and starts are available from 18.30 to 19.30.
