Here is a link to some pics from Farmleigh yesterday - a bit hit, despite the showers. http://www.flickr.com/photos/lindie/sets/72157621001177784/detail/?page=3
All who took part (including no less than Sonia O'Sullivan) got a map which included on it a list of forthcoming fixtures - starting with Santry on August 23.
Abroad, Eoin McCullough was competing at the European Youth Orienteering Championships in Serbia - tough competition, but the Irish U16 boys did brilliantly to finish 14th - ahead of archrivals GB. In a very exciting and tense race, each runner came in ahead of the British team. Jack Millar ran the 1st leg with Cillin Corbett 2nd and Eoin bringing the team home on the final and glory leg.
Eoin also finished best of the Irish on the final short course day - he clocked a time of 13 minutes exaclty for the 1.8km course to finish 56th, followed by Jack Millar, Laurence Quinn and Cillian Corbett in 58th (13.11), 61st (13.51) and 71st (16.07) respectively.
On the first day of competition, Eoin was 72nd on the 6.6km long course in 1:29.21. Full results available at EYOC website (http://www.eyoc2009.org).
